Part 2 - Silver jump ring
3m 3s
Timeline
Skip Intro - [00:15}
First, close the jump ring so it is flush, without any gaps [00:25].
Start at the lowest power setting on the laser [00:52].
Increase the power incrementally, testing adjacent to the joint to observe the action on the ring [00:52].
Once you see action, you'll know where you are with the power and can increase it accordingly [01:13].
Do not fire the laser directly into the joint. Instead, fire it adjacent to the joint so that it jumps into the joint [01:30].
Tips and tricks
Fire next to the join - To achieve a strong and effective join, aim the laser just next to the joint rather than directly on it. This helps the metal flow over the seam, creating a better bond. Firing directly on the joint may not provide the desired fusion and could weaken the connection.
Black Marker Pen - Applying a black marker before laser welding reduces reflection, boosts heat absorption, enhances precision, and creates a temporary layer for smoother, more consistent welds on reflective materials.
